Hug the way you love

Sometimes loving people is the only gift you'll ever give them.

oh camp, how i love thee continually.

honestly, where else can you dress up in super hero costumes, or sing songs about a hippo or chicken lips? it's one of those jobs where you're required not to grow up, you get to just play all day long and they pay you for it (granted not very much but still) and when i think of all the times i debated returning i'm so glad that i didn't find a "real job"
camp is just like the most amazing place- it's family, always, whether you know the people or not, it's just one of those places where no matter how long you've been gone it still feels exactly the same, like you've been there all along. i wouldn't trade this job for the world. i love these people, i love these kids, i love the dirt and the grass and the trees, i love the way some nights it's darker than the inside of a closet and other nights it's so bright you dont' need a flashlight. i love how big the sky is and how bright the stars are. the way the air is thinner but cleaner. i love the illusions we create as counselors and how campers still think the same about camp now as i did when i was there- that our cabin clean up judges come from other countries and that we actually plan out a schedule in advance, the way they think we have a strategy for night games. i love how camp is ever changing and yet remains the same and i love the feeling the God is closer there than any other place on earth. i like how it's never perfectly quiet even when you're alone in the forest, and how it's completely removed from any other part of life, how when you're there nothing else matters and all discrepencies are laid aside for the wellbeing of the children. i just love camp and i'm so addicted to it's beauty and peace.
thank the good Lord above for sending me there and for making it a part of my life.

changedfish- if you're a kangaroo then jump real high
